Lou & Sybil Mervis YoPhI Teen Board (Youth Philanthropy Indy)

YoPhI is a youth education program that aims to encourage Jewish youth in greater Indianapolis to do good through philanthropy and service, grounded in Jewish values and community connection. In Hebrew slang, yophi means "excellent" or "great job" - participants in the various YoPhI programs will be saying a big YOPHI! throughout their work.

  • YoPhI Service Learning

YoPhI Service Learning brings youth together in age-based, cross-communal cohorts to participate in service projects that connect Jewish values to hands-on working in the local community.

  • YoPhI Teen Board

High school students work as a philanthropic board focused on learning and making grants through a values-grounded, authentic, consensus-building process. Join to put your values into action and make a lasting impact on our community.

  • YoPhi Mitzvah Project

The Mitzvah Project will provide a structure for families to learn about tzedakah and establish a fund with a portion of b'nai mitzvah gift money to be drawn from annually for philanthropic giving.

Israel Engagement Fellowship

In this 8-session intensive you will explore the many facets of Israel, Zionism, and antisemitism, both historically and today. Fellows graduate with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to enter conversations about Israel thoughtfully and effectively.

Student to Student

Jewish teens are trained to give joint presentations about what it’s like to be Jewish today, providing an indispensable opportunity for non-Jewish students to learn directly from peers, and ask questions of Jewish teens in a safe environment.
