We are blessed with 6 grandchildren and starting at each of their first Hanukkahs, we purchased a Hanukkiah (Menorah) for them – keeping all 6 at our house for the grandchildren to kindle at our yearly family Hanukkah celebration. Year round, the Hannukiot are displayed on the mantle on the kitchen side of our double-sided fireplace, allowing us to enjoy the menorahs daily. As the grandchildren have grown we’ve replaced both a Winnie the Pooh and a Curious George Hannukiot with more mature ones, carefully packing the youthful menorahs away for these grandchildren to enjoy with their own future families. This year, with COVID, we won’t be gathering as a family to celebrate an in-person Hanukkah. Maybe we’ll still light each of the menorahs, using zoom to recite the blessings together.
