Maurer Koach Program
Antisemitism has always been a part of Jewish life, but in recent years, especially now that Israel is at war, has become more prevalent, viral, and virulent. According to a recent Jewish Community Relations Council survey of Indianapolis, half of Indy Jews have experienced Jew hate. Both subtle and direct, whether through social media, or conversation, the rise continues. Strengthen your Jewish identity, explore community connection, and engage with Jewish peers in the fight against Antisemitism.
The Maurer Koach program (Koach means “strength” in Hebrew) is experiential and will provide exposure and experiences that will equip you with tools to educate, lead, and advocate for yourself and others. During the 7 monthly interactive sessions, local, national, and international leaders will address current approaches to understanding and combatting antisemitism as well as provide insights into Jewish life, leadership, and social justice.
There are two fundamental immersive experiences in this program. These are a two-day trip to Chicago and a 10-day trip to Europe. The trip to Europe will include visiting the Auschwitz/Birkenau concentration camps, meetings with Jewish leaders, and visits to historical and contemporary sites. At the end of this program, you will gain and develop meaningful bonds and relationships; deepen your knowledge of the Jewish community and heritage; develop an appreciation for the Jewish and non-Jewish world and be equipped with the tools needed to approach antisemitic rhetoric in your everyday lives.
