The 2015 Campaign is Off and Running

The 2015 Annual Campaign began on September 3 with our Campaign Kick-Off event. Over 120 community members were wowed by mentalist Sidney Freidman and his ability to read minds and predict thoughts. Thanks to Barrie Fisch and Gig Marks Felsher for making the Crane Bay event facility shine.

On September 8-10, local Lions of Judah attended the International Lion of Judah Conference in New York City, joining over 1,500 philanthropists from North America and Israel. Through plenaries, breakout sessions, and special updates, attendees learned about national and international issues that affect women and the global Jewish community. The Kipnis-Wilson Friedland Award ceremony, honoring women for their spirit of volunteering and ability to inspire others, is a special feature of the conference. Indianapolis honored Elaine Levinson (z”l) for her philanthropy and vision.

The community remembered Elaine Levinson on October 21 as women at the Lion of Judah and Pomegranate Luncheon presented the Kipnis-Wilson Friedland Award to her family. The luncheon was hosted by Jackie and David Barrett and chaired by Beth Klapper and Michelle Korin. It highlighted the powerful impact of women’s philanthropy on our community. Featured speaker Alison Lebovitz shared stories that inspired everyone to remain committed to their work as volunteers and donors. Special thanks to The National Bank of Indianapolis for generously sponsoring this year’s luncheon.

The Campaign team of Les Brail, Beth Klapper, Stephen Klapper, and Michelle Korin has set a goal to raise $4,000,000 by March 31, 2015, and donors have responded enthusiastically by increasing their gifts and taking time to reach out to others. Don’t hesitate—call the Federation to make your pledge. JFGI thanks you in advance for your generous response. Please also mark your calendars for Super Sunday, our annual phon-a-thon and thank-a-thon, on February 8, 2015 in the Domont Auditorium of the Bureau of Jewish Education.
The Annual Campaign is central to the Federation, and cannot happen without our many volunteers and professionals. JFGI continues a tradition of generosity and tikkun olam that goes back almost 115 years.
