Life at Butler University’s Hillel

From hosting friends and members of the Muslim Student Union for Shabbat, to attending a Pacers game together, the students of Hillel at Butler University are enjoying a Jewish life!

In early December, Hillel elected a fantastic board of seven students. Each of them brings their unique outlook on Judaism, as well as talents, to the fore. Students also celebrated Chanukah, complete with homemade latkes, sufganiyot straight out of the oven, Bingo, and dreidels spinning wildly!

Hillel began the spring semester with community shaliach, Roy Swisa, teaching everyone a Hebrew song and exploring unfamiliar “people, places and things” of Israel! Shabbat is always sweet as Butler Hillel celebrates the culmination of another week together as Jews. Students appreciated the time together and the chance to take a breath before jumping back into life on a college campus.

Hillel recognized Tu B’Shvat this year by packaging and distributing nuts and dried fruits for 90 fellow Jewish students. Each package had a short explanation of the holiday and encouragement to join Hille’s next activity, which was attending a Pacers game together!
