After the JCRC’s July Political Action Workshop on hate crimes legislation with ADL-Chicago, the Government Affairs Committee has considered and begun drafting language for the JCRC’s Guiding Legislative Principles. This will allow the JCRC to begin working in a lead role on the enactment of a hate crimes statute in Indiana. Indiana is currently one of only five states in the country without a hate crimes law on the books. The Committee’s draft language will be presented to the JCRC board at an upcoming meeting for further consideration.
