BJE & Everything Holocaust

Hebrew School at the BJE

The BJE is in full swing with over two hundred students attending Hebrew School programs and preparing for B’nai Mitzvah celebrations. Adult Hebrew is open and active on Sunday mornings, Mondays, and Wednesdays. Classes are available for all levels from Biblical Hebrew to Modern Ulpan-style Hebrew and everything in between. Students can even attend all of our classes from the comfort of their own homes if they have computer access.

Holocaust Trunk Program Needs Items to Fill Trunks

The BJE is seeking memorabilia, photographs, passport documents, etc. related to Indiana-based Holocaust survivors to create facsimile documents for their trunk program. Please be in touch with Dina David-Smith, ddavid@bjeindy.org, if you have anything to share. The BJE wants to make their Holocaust trunks more interactive and engaging for the classrooms that use them.

Holocaust Education Through Teacher Training and Ballet

The BJE’s Holocaust Education Center of Indiana is busy providing Holocaust education throughout the state. Through the generosity of the Lilly Endowment, Inc. and the Freeman Fund of the Jewish Federation of Greater Indianapolis, the BJE is able to provide teacher training workshops at teacher centers throughout the state in cooperation with the Indiana Department of Education.
The BJE is also working as educational consultants to Dance Kaleidoscope's production of the "Remembrances" ballet for October 2015. Together with the JCRC and the MLK Observance Committee, the BJE is preparing for Yom Hashoah programming at the Statehouse. They will also be bringing members of their Holocaust Speakers Bureau to the Children's Museum for a Yom Hashoah program.
