A Message from the Co-Interim Executive Directors

This past spring, we took on the role of Co-Interim Executive Directors of the Jewish Federation of Greater Indianapolis as the organization entered a transition phase with the top professional leadership position.
Our love for the Jewish community of Indianapolis is something we have shared for many years. We met in 1988 as we collaborated on a Federation Young Women’s Division event, and have worked, for the Jewish community, the JCC and the Federation ever since.
We believe it is our responsibility to do our part, and we’re confident we can make a positive contribution to the Federation and its future.
We thank the professional staff for being welcoming and supportive. Our Federation runs on the hard work and dedication of many people, and our Senior staff provides the leadership for all to work toward shared goals.
In the coming months, we hope to strengthen the foundation of lay and professional relationships in our community. To that end, we have worked with our professional staff and officers to engage the services of Hal Lewis, a nonprofit executive, professor of leadership and most recently, President and CEO of Chicago’s Spertus College/Spertus Institute. Hal will lead us through a process during which we will identify and understand the state of our lay-professional relationships. This will include research and recommendations followed by training and workshops for lay leaders and professionals.
We’re pleased to offer support to our Search Committee Co-Chairs, Greg Maurer and Barry Wormser, as well as to the full committee. The committee has hired a search firm to guide us through the process of finding the person who will lead us into our 117th year of supporting our Jewish community, locally, nationally, overseas and in Israel.
Our hope for the future is to ensure the Indianapolis Jewish community continues to remain strong, as we have been for the past 116 years. We want to continue being the vibrant Jewish community we are today, supportive of all avenues of Jewish engagement, for people of all ages. There is a door for every member of our Greater Indianapolis Jewish community to enter and embrace their Jewishness, and we are, and have always been, proud to play a role in making sure those doors are open to all.
We ask you to join us in making a difference by participating in the 2022 Annual Campaign, the lifeblood of our Federation and the focal point by which every member of the Jewish community has the opportunity to make a difference. Please answer the call you will receive from our volunteers, or call us and become a volunteer!

Thank you for your support!
