Visit Havana with the Federation and discover the history and dynamics of the small but vibrant Jewish community of Havana and meet with their leaders. Option for an extension until October 23, 2015. Contact Michele Boukai at 317.475.4274 or mboukai@JFGI.org for more information. 

Trip Cost:
Cost per person (from Miami)
$2,610 double occupancy
Single occupancy supplement: $250
A $500 deposit is required by August 17. Final payment due by September 4, 2015. 

Cost Includes:
• One night in Miami
• Six days/five nights in Cuba
• Round trip airfare between Miami and Havana
• Hotel accommodations at Crowne Plaza Miami Airport (one night) and 
Nacional Havana (five nights)
(subject to availability and may be substituted for a comparable hotel)
• 10 meals (six breakfasts, one lunch, three dinners, no pork or shellfish)
• Entrance fees to included sites
• Porterage: Miami hotel out, Cuban hotel in and out
• Bottled water when on the bus (two bottles per person per day)
• Airport transfers in Cuba and departure day in Miami
• U.S. airport tax and Cuban tourist visa
• Land transportation in Cuba in an air conditioned bus
• Gratuity to tour guide and driver

Cost Does Not Include:
• Transportation to Miami
• Trip cancellation insurance
• Cash tzedakah (voluntary cash contribution requested of each participant to be 
distributed to the Jewish Cuban community)
• Fees for baggage over 44 pounds
• Cuban airport departure tax (approximately $30)

Itinerary

Wednesday, October 14
Arrival at Miami International Crowne Plaza Airport Hotel. Orientation at 8:00 p.m. 

Thursday, October 15
Fly from Miami to Havana. Meet tour guide Ileana Sarria in Havana. Drive into Havana. Lunch on your own. Visit the Patronato, the Ashkenazi synagogue in Havana City. Briefing by Adela Dworin, President of the Cuban Jewish Community. Dinner on our own. Optional evening at the Tropicana.
 
Friday, October 16
Breakfast. Walking tour of the Old City, including the four major plazas, Ambos Mundos Hotel, the Governor’s Palace, etc. Walk through the Old Jewish Quarter to Adath Israel, Havana's Orthodox synagogue. Visit to a cigar factory. Lunch at La Dominica. Visit an arts and crafts market. Briefing about the history of the Jewish community in Cuba by Professor Maritza Corrales, local expert on Cuban Jewry. Tour of the Sephardic synagogue and visit the Holocaust exhibit (briefing by Willliam Miller, Curator), Mitrani Jewish senior center, community center, Sunday school, and pharmacy. Briefing by Mayra Levy, President of the Sephardi Jewish community of Cuba. Kabbalat Shabbat services at Sephardic Center, followed by dinner with the community. Evening free to explore.

Saturday, October 17
Breakfast. Attend services or explore Havana on your own. Lunch on your own at Vista Del Mar. 
Visit the home of renowned artistJose Fuster, the Gaudi of Havana. Dinner at the Nacional Hotel. See the Hall of Fame, Winston Churchill’s suite. Have a dessert wine and cigar overlooking the Malecon and the sea. Optional Buena Vista Social Club show at the Nacional or Café Paris show.

Sunday, October 18    
Breakfast. Morning visit to the Jewish cemeteries in Guanabocoa. Lunch on the road. Visit the 
Jewish community of Santa Clara. Briefing by David Tacher, President of the Jewish Central Region of Cuba. Visit to Jewish Community Center and the Holocust Memorial. Visit the Che Memorial. 

Monday, October 19
Breakfast. Morning to sleep in or explore. Lunch on your own. Visit to La Finca, Ernest Hemingway’s home. Return to Sephardic Center for a performance by the children of Creative Horizons, a social action project that helps fund the Jewish community. Farewell Dinner at Café Del Oriente.

Tuesday, October  20
Breakfast. Return to airport and Miami. 

Optional Extension: October 20-23

Fly from Havana to Santiago, visit Guantanamo, see the Sierra Maestra Mountains, meet members of the largest Jewish community outside of Havana.
