Dr. Yaron Ayalon

Yaron Ayalon is a historian of the Middle East, Ottoman Empire, and Jews of the Muslim World. His new book, Natural Disasters in the Ottoman Empire: Plague, Famine, and Other Misfortunes was published by
Cambridge University Press in 2014. Dr. Ayalon has published several articles on topics such as natural disasters, Jews in the Ottoman Empire, and literacy and reading in the Middle East. He also serves on the editorial board of the Encyclopedia of Jews in the Islamic World.
