Roie took over as Indianapolis' Israeli emissary in September 2017. He was born in Atlanta and spent his fourth grade year in West Bloomfield, Michigan, but has lived most of his life in Timrat, Israel. He studied biotechnology in school, and after a year of volunteering for the youth movement he participated in, Roie served as a paratrooper in the Israeli army and took part in "Operation Protective Edge" in the Gaza Strip. For the past few summers Roie worked at Tamarack Camps in Michigan, supervising their wilderness trip program. He's played basketball since he was five and loves to travel — he recently ventured to New Zealand for a few months. Read more about Roie here, and connect with Roie on Facebook.
