The Indianapolis Russian School was founded in 1994 by a group of Russian-speaking immigrants – mostly parents themselves. They had a common concern, probably shared by any immigrant family: how to keep their native culture and pass it on to their children.
The school began with a few volunteers, mostly ex-teachers, who would come to the Jewish Community Center on Sundays to teach just a handful of children what they knew about Russian Language, Literature, Math, Music and Art. Since then, the school has grown into an Indianapolis Jewish community staple.
